As promised, I finally went and tried the original chai kueh at the very first chai kuah restoran in Jawi/Sungai Bakap. Look wise, all three are almost the same, and all served fresh out of steamer!

It's at the end corner of the shop lot along the main street. The place is well ventilated and there is ample parking nearby. There are 5 types of chai kueh sold here: chives, sengkuang, pumpkin, yam and salted vegetables.

Update Dec 2025: reduce the stars due to hygiene issue. Workers forced me to take those steamed and remained outside kuih, which are cold and looked unhygiene as they touched the kuih with bare hand. Jul 2025: Indeed tasted good.

Tried few cai kuih in penang and this one actually the best. Google nearby food and this shop came out.. reached there 12.30pm and still got Mengkuang and Yam.. bought 10 and rm1. 10 for one..

Small stall selling local chai Kueh with different fillings; bangkuang, chives, yam and pumpkins. The coffee shop owner is very friendly too.

The vegetable cake was delicious. It had a thin crust and lots of filling. I especially loved the taro filling. The coffee shop guy was very polite and friendly.

Located in an old coffee shop, they make special chai kuih. I had chai kuih with four different fillings; salted vegetables, jicama, taro and pumpkin.

Not good as expected . Overrated. Room for improvement on the chai kuey skin. Bang kuang taste better than gu chai.
