We're headed to the Mandarin Cafe , a place locked in a bitter lunchtime struggle with their arch-nemesis, the Genting Cafe. It is an epic conflict for the best roast duck rice, a thunderous battle of char koay kak supremacy, a buffet rice…

Char koay kak The fried rice cake here is nowhere near the standards of others I'd had in George Town. The soysauce-based flavouring paled in

I have always maintained that when it comes to char koay kak the ladies do it better. This is fried with duck egg at Mandarin Cafe with lots of ‘chaipor’ and has a more intense taste than the other 2.

This place has cheap and tasty economy rice. They sometimes promote their coffee drinks for RM1.00 to draw in new customers Overall the food is tasty and there are always regulars and walk ins too.

Of the 4 coffee shops located on the 4 ends of shophouses in Island Glades, Mandarin Cafe has taken over as the most popular among Penangites. Even the once best Chee Cheong Fun crown at Genting next door has been stolen by Mandarin Cafe.

The western food is pretty dope. I also tried the steamed chicken from the chicken rice place and the herbal chicken noodle soup, they’re all pretty good. They have some sort of nasi kandar there. Super delicious! Always packed with people.

The food tastes good and the prices are reasonable, but the lady boss at the drink counter is very rude. I accidentally went toward the drink area thinking the toilet was at the back, and instead of telling me politely, she just shouted…

My family's go to place for Nasi Kandar in the evening when we are in Penang. Food is well done, many options and just yummylicious. According to a fellow vendor, the seller does not use coconut milk in the curries (I don't know honestly)…

Plenty of food choices at this coffee shop, so it’s easy to find something for everyone. The tomyam noodle and the fried fish bee hoon were okay, nothing outstanding but decent for a quick meal. The char koay teow was also just alright.

A corner coffeeshop in a housing area that is popular with locals and tourists who discovered it by word of mouth. There are many stalls selling a variety of food, from various noodles stall, curry noodles, famous chee cheong fun and…

The chicken rice/ pork rice is special here. Very crispy and even the rice is good. One particular snack here is the Yo Tiao, very dry and crispy compared to other seller.

There's ample of Chinese food available but here lies one of the best mee goreng stall in Penang, known mostly among the locals. Clean hit of flavours and textures, and generous with the ingredients, particularly the sotong.

There is no first-come, first-served policy for the claypot chicken rice. asks the seller questions, and some more respond in an impolite manner. Additionally, your food tastes mediocre at times. Puik!

Local kopitiam, rather popular and even more people during weekends and public holidays. Food is OK, service is OK. Parking is a challenge.
