Another stall we never fail to order from is Lean Huat Hokkien Mee, which serves out Fujianese prawn noodles in a spicy, chili paste-fired pork

This stall carries the weight of a small legend. People fold it into breakfast runs, bring out-of-towners, and warn that the pot can be empty by nine. The draw is what happens in the bowl long before the toppings go on.

Overall a very good experience: the soup base is the real standout here. It is incredibly 'kaw' and packed with deep prawn flavor; you can tell they put the work into the broth.

Pretty good hokkien mee. The broth was rich, flavourful but slightly sweet. I liked its spicy kick too, but those who can't take heat might want to ask for less sambal.

Compare it yourself! A few "pieces" of shrimp pieces, not a few pieces, RM6, you may think it is not expensive. But looking at the first picture, my RM3.90 tastes better than his, and has more ingredients.

The hokkien mee standard has dropped compared to my youth days. Gone are the days where the gravy is super thick with grounded fried prawn shells. Understandably so due to the hard work required in preparing it.

This hokkien mee or prawn mee packs a lot flavour, however there is hardly any ingredient inside.
