Operating since 1922, Ravi’s Claypot Apom is one of those rare food stalls that carry with them not just recipes, but memories and heritage. Now likely run by the fourth generation, it’s remarkable that something as humble as apom has…

Appom with an attitude. Been standing there for 10 minutes and yet being blatantly ignored as a human being. While requesting for an order and serving, they straight up said it is finished when they are still churning out pieces after…

Went on a weekday and no queue. Bought 5 first and had to buy another 5. It’s really thin and manis, like flavour (both smell and taste) of Chinese love letters. A must try and must eat! Really unique , unlike the appom in Singapore.

Ravi’s Claypot Apom Manis is as close as Penang gets to a definitive apom address. This Tamil family stall has been working claypots on Jalan Burma for around a century, still lining them over glowing charcoal at first light.

The best Appom Manis in Penang cooked with charcoal!!! Their aromatic, softest & tastiest Ravi’s Appom Manis are incredibly delicious. 1 person can easily enjoy 5 pancakes.

Second time was the charm for this spot: I came on 31st Dec an hour before closing but they were already sold out. I returned on 2nd Jan around 7:30 and it was already busy; I had to wait 30 minutes.

Cooked over charcoal. Very good and highly recommended. Go early in the morning or it will sell out. Light and fragrant with coconut. Crispy outside, soft inside with a pillowy centre.

RM6 for 5 pieces. Handmade, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a nice charcoal flavor. It's somewhat similar to the charcoal-grilled thin pancakes from Hong Kong a long time ago. But it's not amazing.

The apom slow-cooked in a claypot, develops a lightly burnt and subtly sweet & crispy outer layer, while the inside remains soft, fluffy, and delicate — creating a texture that feels just right. Definitely one of the best in Penang island.

Tried the apom manis at Ravi’s Claypot and really enjoyed it. The texture was soft and fluffy. The taste was well-balanced, not overly sweet. A simple but satisfying local treat that I’d happily order again.

The food in this tea house is plentiful, but I came specifically for the Michelin-starred Ravi's claypot appom manis. It's delicious and affordable, highly recommended, but you'll need some patience to enjoy it!
