Best Charcoal Char Koey Teow at night is at this New Lane Hawker Center in Penang. I have stumble this stall randomly during Covid period and recently thanks to my friend for reminding me this stall.

The stir-fried kueh teow is, of course, the signature dish, and with my small appetite, it was naturally the only choice. The owner was even dancing rhythmically while stir-frying, which must have been because it was so hot!

Had dinner there twice in this recent trip. Both nights took some char kway teow from Mr Chong's stall (1st one at the entrance of the lane on the right side, the line up will identify it!!).

I only gonna review this specific shop :- I went to New Lane Penang recently and had a very unpleasant experience. My family and I chose an empty table to sit at, just like any normal open space food court seating.

Had a really unpleasant experience during my recent visit to this stall just before closing time. The available option is limited, and the signboard clearly stated “5 for RM5.” However, I was charged RM5 for only 3 pcs.

The first stall had an incredibly long queue for fried kway teow. We ordered two servings with duck eggs and one with pork lard. Just before closing time, there were only three customers left.

Despite the heavy rain, we queued for 20 minutes to try the kueh teow cooked over charcoal. You absolutely must use duck eggs; they make it much more fragrant.

BEWARE if someone come to ask for food order. (Because other stalls are self service ) DONT ORDER char kuey teow, I paid 2 small 1 big plate for RM40. I don't think the price is reasonable for hawker food. The beverages are expensive too.

If you go to Penang. Definitely come here. Craving for carcoal kwetiau which never stops queuing. But that's where the fun is. Then the loklok snack is also delicious. 1 piece of Apom Balik is 1RM. The grilled fish is helpful.

You only choose what type of egg you want, and that’s it — simple but delicious. The prawns were super bouncy and fresh. I had to queue for about 30 minutes each time, and I’ve already come here twice. Totally worth the wait 😋

The food here is overprice as is more to tourists place. Some stall do not indicate the food price, better to ask before ordering. The old chaw kway teow has a very long queue and didn't manage to try it. Overall not worth to visit.
