Instead of the word Classic, the more suitable term to describe about Seng Thor Coffee Shop is Nostalgic. This coffee shop is known to Penangite since childhood. Most of the stalls here had been operating for few decades.

Seng Thor Coffee shop is located at at the junction of Carnarvon Street and Kimberly Street, which is at the heart of Georgetown. This coffee shop looks like it’s been around for ages!

I talked about visiting Seng Thor in such of its famed Oyster Omelette or “Or Chien” last year. Instead I found wonderful lor bak . But this time I made sure to make my way there in the afternoon when the or chien stall and another wonton…

Kedai Kopi Seng Thor (成都旅社) is a coffee shop at the corner of Carnarvon Street (Lebuh Carnarvon) and Kimberley Street (Lebuh Kimberley). There are several hawker stalls here. The Lor Mee dish here is mediocre at best.

If there was a dish I grew up on in Penang (besides char kway teow ), it would have to be the oyster omelette. I have fond memories of fighting over oysters with my sibling (it was always an expensive dish so we would have to share a…

Best classic hawker stall restaurant at Penang. There’re plenty of hawker stalls inside this restaurant selling delicious Chinese meals. My favorite one is Char Keow Teow & Wanton mee. Very authentic, finally I had that original real taste.

Don't come here to eat! It's awful and disgusting. I ordered 10 RM for water. The first time it was served, I thought it was tea, but it was black and completely different from the picture. The vendor even had a sour face.

Good food at a very good price. You can trust the juices, they are made with boiled water. Even though the place doesn't look like much, the food tastes very good! The owner runs the restaurant with a lot of love.

Old school Chinese coffee shop with many popular stalls. Char koey teow here is not bad, both the husband and wife bosses are very nice people, oyster omelette is really average, hardly have the aroma of garlic or any charred taste,…

My wife's best friend had been raving about this teahouse for ages. Today we had their braised noodles and wonton noodles, and they were delicious! The owner was very friendly, and the service was excellent! The only problem was parking.

I visited Seng Thor Coffee Shop in December 2024 and tried their famous Penang Lor Mee! 🍜 Thick, savory gravy, chewy noodles, tender braised pork, and crispy shallots, it was pure comfort food. 🌶️ Pro tip: Arrive early, it sells out fast!

Foreigner friendly place. Service is quite good. The space inside is small and hot, but they also have tables outside. Went for the Loh mee, quite a rich broth, chilli and garlic are provided to make it to your liking.

Today's lor mee was bland and unappetizing. Sometimes it's okay, sometimes not. Today's wasn't okay... The quality of the lor mee is inconsistent. A small aside: A middle-aged couple sat next to me.

5 stars seems like too few to me. We had it next to the hotel, and it's a local place, where they have everything from noodles to sandwiches! Super Santos's and at local prices. Don't hesitate to stop by. The best I found in Penang!

The coffee is delicious, especially after walking around in the hot weather. Unfortunately, the bread isn't very good. The prices are cheap, and it seems like this place has become a gathering spot for the local community.

The toast and shrimp bread were delicious, as were the stir-fried sweet rice noodles and wonton noodles. The oyster omelet was tasty but too oily, making it increasingly greasy. The hot coffee was rich and delicious.

Attention all tourists visiting Malaysia! If you stop by this shop for lunch while in Penang, remember to order a drink after your food, or the owner will make you an overnight sensation!
