The Padang Brown Hawker Centre is specifically popular for its seafood popiah and the yong tau foo. I was in Penang for slightly more than 48 hours and had some engagements with Tourism Malaysia in between but I did my best to hit my…

Next up is another stall, and as I found out later, seems to be a very popular stall in Penang: Seafood Popiah ! WTF?! Usually popiah is just dry wrinkly, but take a look at this: It’s just inviting and tempting you and coaxing you to take…

Since I was visiting Penang with my makan gang, I asked one of them (who lived in Penang for 4 years) if he knew where this popiah place was. We found it yesterday, but 30 minutes too late.

The wonder in Penang is the people here are very innovative , food wise that is. It's not about giving funny names like Khor Tsu Koon to the the durians, but innovating a local delicacy into it's own signature.

Padang Brown Crab Meat Popiah is a checkpoint in Penang food fandom. You do not wander into it by accident - you are sent, with instructions, to find the crab popiah in the Chinese wing of the food court.

Popiah with crab is something new to me. Not the typical more "sweet" style you encounter in the rest of Malaysia and Singapore. This version has a distinct seafood flavor, especially when it is generously doused in the broth.

We reached this stall on weekday at about 2pm. Ordering at the stall and serving within 10 minutes upon ordering. I ordered one piece of popiah, but then I wanted to pay, the server told me that I needed to pay RM6 for 2 pieces as this was…

The Padang Brown Popiah has been an institution for Penangites since the 1980s. Priced at RM3.00 per roll, it is very popular with locals and it comes with crab fillings. The special extra liao ones are priced at RM5.50 per roll.

its quite average to be honest... I ordered the normal and the added crab meat to try. Adding the crab meat does add flavour, but its not to my liking actually. I have tasted simpler and better popiah that is certainly much cheaper too!

One of a kind crab popiah with flavourful seafood based broth. I have not seen or tried this anywhere else. One set wasn’t enough for us, we had to order another one! If you’re around this area, I recommend for you to try it.

This is one of my favourite popiah in town. They have wrapped in some crab meat in it, making the dish more flavourful even with little soupy on it. The taste slightly dropped compared to years ago but still the best.

My Penang friend recommended this popiah which have crab meat filling inside the popiah and drizzle with popiah soup over . It was alright but I still prefer the bunga raya popiah at Melaka which have pork lard .
